Fuel Tanker Catches Fire in Rautahat, No Casualties Reported

A fuel tanker carrying petrol caught fire in Rautahat on Shrawan 21, resulting in the vehicle being completely destroyed.

The incident occurred on the East-West Highway near Dhansar Pul in Gujara Municipality-3. The tanker, with license plate number Madhesh Pradesh 03-001 Kha 7811, was traveling from Amlekhgunj in Bara to Sarlahi when it lost control and veered off the road while trying to avoid a deer around 5:30 am.

According to the District Police Office in Rautahat, the tanker caught fire immediately after it overturned. A team of police personnel from the Area Police Office Chandranigahapur and the District Traffic Police Office Chapur, along with firefighters from Chandrapur Municipality and Nijgadh Municipality, responded to the incident and managed to bring the fire under control.

No human casualties were reported in the incident, although the tanker was completely damaged, said Police Inspector Basant Gautam of the District Police Office in Rautahat.

The Mahendra Highway, which was affected by the incident for some time, has now resumed normal operations. The tanker driver, 25-year-old Samir Gurung from Simra Sub-Metropolitan City-11 in Bara, has been taken into custody by the police for further investigation, according to DSP Gautam.
