Extratech Oval Cricket Stadium Inaugurated in Rupandehi The Extratech Oval Cricket Stadium, an ambitious project of IT entrepreneur and Australian returnee Binod Kunwar, was inaugurated on Monday in Tilottama, Rupandehi.
The stadium’s playing field, constructed with an investment of Rs 70 million in just 9 months, was inaugurated by Lumbini Province Chief Minister Amik Sherchan. Kunwar, who runs an IT training institute in Australia, plans to invest Rs 400 million to develop the stadium into an international-standard venue with a 25,000 capacity over 5 years. Former cricketer Shakti Gauchan is the brand ambassador and will head the cricket academy and training center planned at the facility.
A Legends Cup T10 tournament featuring former Nepali international teams was also organized to mark the inauguration of the playing field. The stadium is expected to boost Rupandehi’s reputation as a cricketing hub and aid player development by hosting national and international tournaments.
