The Donald Trump administration intends to hire 3,000 more immigration enforcement agents as it looks to speed up deportations throughout the United States. In an interview with Fox News, White House border czar Tom Homan described the proposed expansion, defending the administration’s immigration crackdown in the face of legal challenges and growing delays in immigration courts.

The planned increase in personnel is expected to boost the operational capacity of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Homan did, however, concede that staffing is just one element of the deportation process, which also entails court proceedings and legal requirements.
