Bajura, Nepal – In a tragic turn of events, Maina Joshi, the Deputy Chair of Swamikartik Rural Municipality, breathed her last at her residence in Bajura on Wednesday night. The 53-year-old political figure succumbed to her prolonged battle with kidney and uterine cancer, leaving behind a legacy of public service and a grieving community.
Bharat Rokaya, the chairperson of the rural municipality, confirmed the sad news, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Joshi. Rokaya revealed that Joshi had faced health challenges in recent years and had undergone multiple surgeries in 2017 following her diagnosis of kidney and uterine cancer.
Born and raised in Ward 4 of the rural municipality, Joshi was elected as the Deputy Chair of the Nepali Congress during the local elections in 2022. Known for her dedication to community development and public welfare, she played a vital role in shaping the policies and initiatives of the municipality.
Joshi’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the local political landscape, with colleagues and constituents mourning the loss of a leader who tirelessly worked for the betterment of her community.
The late Deputy Chair is survived by her grief-stricken husband, two daughters, and two sons. Her family, friends, and political associates are grappling with the profound sadness of her departure, remembering her as a compassionate and dedicated public servant.
