As far as the neon-filled, unrelenting streets of Night City go, the collaboration between Studio TRIGGER, CD Projekt Red, and Netflix for this sequel series is in for an uphill battle. The original series established an incredibly high bar with its video game adaptation by embedding itself within the world’s lore and giving the viewers an emotional punch in the gut. Now going forward without David, the new chapter tries to repeat that formula by blending tragedy and romance in a unique way.

Can ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2’ Match the Emotional Impact of David’s Story?

The main difficulty of this new chapter is making up for the emotions lost from the former protagonists and widening the borders of the world. Instead of being focused on the fate of one mercenary who rises and falls, the plot widens to demonstrate how the corrupt corporate world affects people at once. Despite the fact that this kind of narration allows for getting a more profound insight into the clean corporate zones and dirty backstreets of Night City, sometimes it is hard to catch the same emotions that were shown before because of the loss of intimacy.
