CJP Protest Latest News:  Delhi Court sentenced Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) activists Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to five days of judicial custody on Wednesday, October 14, for the alleged trespass of Jantar Mantar. Both activists have been taken to Tihar Jail as ordered by the court. Meanwhile, the third activist Ajinkya Shinde has been released on personal bond.

Three activists were arrested on Tuesday by the Delhi Police as they tried to enter Jantar Mantar, which has now been denotified as an authorized site for protests, by breaching barricades and protesting against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

As per news reports in The Times of India and The Indian Express, the police have filed a case against the activists based on allegations of trespass, violation of prohibitory orders, breach of peace bond and obstruction of public servant in performance of his duty.

Why Were CJP Leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka Sent to Tihar Jail?

Delhi Police said that Das and Ranka have violated the conditions of bonds signed by them in view of the detention of the two at a protest rally in the national capital earlier. The conditions were that both should keep peace and not indulge in such activities that might cause a breach of public order for one year.

It is further stated by the police that the leaders of the CJP have called upon the people to take part in the protest and entered into the restricted area of the protest despite the restrictions in force. Five days’ judicial custody has been awarded to Das and Ranka. Both have been kept in Tihar Jail following the hearing on Wednesday morning.
