SANHE, CHINA – A devastating gas explosion tore through a fried chicken restaurant in Sanhe, China on Wednesday. At least two people have been killed and 26 more injured in the blast, which authorities believe was caused by a gas leak.
The explosion occurred around 8 am local time in an old residential area less than 50 kilometers from Beijing. Videos show a massive fireball and plumes of smoke at the site. The restaurant building has reportedly collapsed, and nearby cars were also destroyed.
Emergency services, including over 150 firefighters, were quickly dispatched to the scene. The fire is now under control, and rescue efforts are underway.
Tragically, China has faced a rise in deadly gas leak incidents in recent times.
