The China Open 2026 saw two contrasting quarterfinals on Thursday, October 8, as Nikola Bartunkova stunned seventh seed Karolina Muchova 6-3, 6-0 before fourth seed Mirra Andreeva defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova to book her place in the semifinals. Bartunkova produced another impressive performance in Beijing, while Andreeva continued her strong run at the WTA 1000 event.

Having defeated Alexandrova, Andreeva also became the youngest tennis player to reach a fourth career WTA-1000 semi-final at the age of 19 years and 154 days, surpassing previous record-holder Coco Gauff.

China Open 2026 Results: Bartunkova Dominates Muchova

Bartunkova reached the first WTA 1000 semifinal of her career after dismantling fellow Czech Muchova 6-3, 6-0 in just 67 minutes.
