Prime Video’s new adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie has brought a new take to the familiar horror story. Created by Mike Flanagan, the eight-episode series follows Carrie White, a teenager with telekinetic powers who faces bullying at school and an abusive relationship with her deeply religious mother, Margaret. However, unlike the earlier versions of the story, the new adaptation leaves room for Carrie’s journey to continue beyond the events of the first season.

The show makes several changes to King’s 1974 novel and Brian De Palma’s 1976 film, including a major twist in its ending. Carrie survives the night of the prom massacre and leaves the destroyed town of Chamberlain, Maine, with Emaline, a young woman who also has supernatural abilities. This change has raised questions about a possible second season.

Flanagan has already considered how the story could continue. But Prime Video has not yet renewed the series for a second season. Here is everything to know about Carrie Season 2, including its renewal status, possible storyline, cast and expected release date.

Has Carrie Season 2 Been Renewed?

No, Carrie Season 2 has not been officially renewed yet. However, Flanagan has expressed interest in continuing the story and has even imagined it as a three-season project.

Speaking to Collider, the filmmaker shared his vision for the series, saying, “In my dream scenario, I think it’s three seasons. In my dream scenario, I think Carrie has a wonderful three-step arc. It’s a trilogy, really.”

Flanagan has also explained that he wanted the first season to work as a complete story, even if the show did not return. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said, “Having done so many limited series, I want to make sure that when it ends, it’s perfectly satisfying no matter what happens, whether you’re moving on or not,” he explained. “But, yeah, part of the fun of this was diving into that expansive world that could potentially continue.”
