A tragic accident on Sunday evening in Rukum West claimed the lives of three people and injured three others.
The incident occurred on the route between Musikot-1 Khalanga and Chinkhet, Banfikot Rural Municipality-4. A Bolero jeep (Karnali Province 02 001 Cha 0413) traveling on this route reportedly plunged off the road.
The deceased have been identified as:
- Saugat BK (27), Thakurbaba Municipality-5 Kaligaudi, Bardiya
- Dharmendra Shrestha (30), Gurvakot Municipality-8 Mehelkuna, Surkhet
- Jit Bahadur Karki (19), Surkhet Barahatal Rural Municipality-5 Baddichaur
According to District Police Office Rukum West Spokesperson Police Inspector Bakhat Shahi, all three succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at the district hospital after being rescued from the accident site.
The accident also resulted in injuries to three individuals:
- Sujal BK (17), Banfikot Rural Municipality-4 Chinkhet, Rukum West (serious condition, referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment)
- Tikaram Khanal (27), Thakurbaba Municipality-5 Kaligaudi (serious condition, referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment)
- Dilip Thapa (26), Thakurbaba Municipality-5 Bankatti (receiving treatment at district hospital)
Police reports indicate that the victims were working on expanding fiber optic network infrastructure in the Banfikot area and were residing in Chinkhet at the time of the accident. The force of the fall, estimated at roughly 200 meters, reportedly caused the vehicle to break into three pieces.
