“Some BJP leaders are trying to create confusion in farmers’ minds about the protest by sugarcane farmers for higher prices for sugarcane and some are putting pressure on us to stop the protest,’’ farmer leader Chunappa Pujari said while addressing protesting farmers at Hire Bagewadi in Belagavi on Tuesday (October 13).
“Some leaders are saying that there is a difference between the MSP for other crops and the MSP for sugar while in the case of crops it is Minimum Support Price, and it is Minimum Selling Price in the case of sugar and that revising the MSP for sugar would not help farmers. A leader told me this and I told him that whatever the short form stands for, we see it as a solution to our problems,’’ Mr. Pujari said.
