Virupaksh Mamani, BJP taluk unit president, was seriously injured in a road accident near Saundatti in Belagavi district on Friday.
He was standing by the roadside when a car hit him. He suffered injuries to his head, legs and hands. He was shifted to a hospital in Hubballi.
A case has been registered.
