Actor Imran Khan, nephew of Bollywood star Aamir Khan, has been directed to leave India by October 28 after Mumbai Police initiated immigration-related action over his participation in a political protest. The development follows his detention at a demonstration organised by the satirical political group Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on October 10.

Police said the action was taken under the relevant provisions of the Immigration Act, citing Khan’s participation in the demonstration despite not being an Indian citizen.

Why Has Mumbai Police Issued a Notice to Imran Khan?

The police action follows a complaint by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, who alleged that Khan holds US citizenship and an OCI card rather than Indian citizenship.

Somaiya had sought action against the actor, claiming his participation in what he described as an illegal political agitation violated OCI provisions and visa conditions.
