Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been added to India’s squad for the fifth and final T20I against West Indies after Arshdeep Singh sustained a blow to his bowling shoulder, giving the 36-year-old experienced fast bowler an opportunity to return to international cricket after nearly four years. The match will be played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 17, 2026.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the change on October 16. Arshdeep’s availability for the series decider remains uncertain, with the team set to make a final decision based on his recovery before the match.

Bhuvneshwar’s inclusion comes after two productive IPL seasons with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), including the beautiful 2026 campaign in which he finished among the competition’s leading wicket-takers. Bhuvi picked 28 wickets during RCB’s title-defence run, only one less than the purple cap winner Kagiso Rabada.
