Tourists visiting Bandipur, a popular destination in Tanahun, can now enjoy a thrilling new way to experience the sights. After receiving international safety certifications, the Bandipur Cable Car officially began commercial operation on Thursday.

Kiran Pokhrel, Executive Officer of Bandipur Cable Car, announced the news. The cable car had been undergoing partial operation since April 13th, but with the TUV certificate in hand, it’s now fully operational.

According to Ramchandra Sharma, the company president, safety was paramount for the company. The cable car underwent a rigorous testing process, including a load test and a three-stage trial period, before receiving the final green light.

The ride promises breathtaking views and even an “adventure-like” feeling, as riders travel alongside a near-vertical cliff. The 7-minute journey covers a distance of 1,700 meters, connecting the cable car square with the temple near Dumre Bazar.

Out of the 31 cabins, 21 will be dedicated to passengers, while the remainder will be used for transporting supplies. The cable car will operate daily from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, making Bandipur home to Nepal’s newest cable car system. This addition joins the existing cable cars in Manakamana, Chandragiri, Pokhara, Butwal, Dolakha, and Nawalparasi.
