Ambulance Crash Near Butwal Kills one, injures two

A tragic ambulance accident near Butwal on Sunday morning claimed the life of one person and left two others seriously injured.

An ambulance (Lu 1 Ja 531) transporting a patient from Arghakhanchi to Butwal collided with three pedestrians near the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-13 Suspension Bridge.

According to the Butwal Area Police Office, the victim, 56-year-old Kamala Nepali from Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City Ward 11 Belbas, succumbed to her injuries during treatment at Lumbini Regional Hospital Butwal. Two others, 55-year-old Harika Nepali and 35-year-old Jhupa Thadarai, also from Ward 11, were injured in the accident. Police reports indicate they were on a morning walk when the ambulance struck them while crossing the road.

Residents sprang into action, rescuing the injured and transporting them to the hospital.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bijayraj Pandit of the Butwal Area Police Office confirmed the fatality and stated that the ambulance driver, Narayan Bahadur Gabtar Magar of Panini Rural Municipality Ward 7, Arghakhanchi, is in police custody along with the vehicle.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
