By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Nov. 3: Three young entrepreneurs from Nepalgunj have started commercial marigold farming on two bighas of land in Narainapur Rural Municipality of Banke district, aiming to meet the high demand for flowers during the Tihar festival.

The three youths, Subash Jung Shah, Kritiraj Dixit and Sushil Kumar Maurya, residents of Phultekra, of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-6, have invested around Rs. 1 million in commercial marigold cultivation in Matehiya, Narainapur-5, a remote area of the district.

Shah is a mechanical engineer, while Maurya is a former bank employee and Dixit is a serving government schoolteacher.

Shah said they jointly ventured into flower farming to end the situation in which people have to rely on wilted flowers imported from India due to the shortage of fresh flowers during Tihar.

He said the flowers were now ready for sale and orders had started coming in from various places.
