The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended all flights of Thai AirAsia to Nepal due to a permit issue. The airline’s flight from Thailand was held in the air for nearly an hour before being allowed to land at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The CAAN’s decision to suspend the airline’s operations underscores the importance of adhering to regulatory guidelines. The authority’s Information Officer, Gyanendra Bhul, confirmed the suspension and the cancellation of the airline’s General Sales Agent (GSA).
The primary reason behind the suspension is the expiration of Thai AirAsia’s flight permit on October 26, 2024. Today’s flight was allowed to operate as a “special chartered” flight, prioritizing passenger safety and humanitarian concerns.
However, all other flights of the airline have been suspended with immediate effect. The suspended Thai AirAsia flight will return to Bangkok today itself, carrying its passengers.
