Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, Nepal will undergo significant upgrades starting November 8th, 2024. To facilitate these improvements, the airport will be closed for 10 hours daily, from 10 pm to 8 am, for five months.
This temporary closure schedule will reduce the airport’s operational hours to 14 hours a day, impacting its current 6 am to 2 am window. The upgrades are expected to be completed by March 31st, 2025.
The airport closures are necessary to accommodate runway expansion, taxiway improvements, and the construction of additional parking bays. Airlines operating at TIA will be required to adjust their flight schedules accordingly to minimize disruptions for passengers.
