Sir Tom Jones has postponed a further US concert on doctors’ advice, with the 86-year-old Welsh singer now missing a third date on his Come Gather Round world tour after falling ill with flu. In a statement posted on his Instagram account, the singer said he had rescheduled the show at the Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, California, to Friday, 6 November. The postponement follows the cancellation of two earlier concerts, in Los Angeles and San Diego, announced on Monday.
The latest update came on Thursday, a day after the singer had been expected to resume a run of shows that has included 20 performances across the United States. The tour was originally due to end with a concert in San Francisco on 1 November, and its schedule now runs several days later than planned.
Tom Jones: What Did He Say About His Illness?
In his statement, Jones wrote that he had “been hit with a bad case of the flu” after completing 20 shows and singing for audiences across the country. “Following doctor’s advice for another day of rest, I unfortunately must reschedule tomorrow night’s show,” he said in the update, before adding: “Again I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. I look forward to seeing you all soon.”
