The Premier League match scheduled for this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions. As reported by Everton itself through a publication on X (Twitter), the Meteorological Office issued alerts for heavy rain, strong winds and flooding in several regions of the United Kingdom.

The legendary Merseyside derby will have to wait. A few hours before the start of the match, the sports officials of both clubs, together with representatives of the police and the Liverpool city council, made the decision to postpone the match corresponding to the fifteenth day of the Premier League. This was due to the chaos generated by Storm Darragh, which is affecting several areas of the United Kingdom, as reported by Everton.

“The security risk due to the strong gusts of wind expected until early Sunday morning makes it advisable to postpone the match for safety reasons,” the club’s statement said.

On the other hand, the Reds also issued a statement warning their fans that the match would be postponed for safety reasons. Liverpool, the sole leader seven points behind second place, Chelsea, would have the opportunity to get out of their draw against Newcastle, which ended their good streak.

Storm Darragh has also caused other sporting events to be suspended this weekend, two of them English second division matches.
