The FA Cup, the oldest tournament that exists in the world of football, has witnessed some of the most bizarre stories in the history of English football. Now, fate has wanted a war veteran like Ashley Young to face off in the third round… with her son Tyler!

Born in Stevenage back in 1985, there is no older outfield player than Ashley Young himself (39 years, four months and 22 days). Only goalkeeper Fabianski surpasses him and, behind him, he keeps myths like James Milner and Jamie Vardy at bay. He can boast, in fact, of being one of the few players still active in England, winners of the last Manchester United Premier League (2012-13).

In June 2006, just a few months before leaving Watford to join Aston Villa, he saw the birth of his first-born, Tyler Young. Little by little, he has been building his career and, at the age of 18, he is playing for the legendary Peterborough’s reserve team after going through the academy of another English football classic, Queens Park Rangers. Father and son also have a close relationship that they show on social networks.

Tyler’s debut with the first team came last Saturday in the second round of the FA Cup against Notts Country in which ‘The Posh’ won by the minimum in a completely crazy match. Ashley’s son came out with 27′ left to make his debut.

Now, just a few days later, the FA Cup has wanted Peterborough to face Everton in the next round, where his father has been since last season and is a regular in Sean Dyche’s schemes. We will see if father and son can see each other for the first time on a playing field on January 9 at Goodison Park.
