At SoFi Stadium, Saquon Barkley emerged as the star of the Eagles with 255 career yards – a personal and franchise record – that helped him score two touchdowns. No one had rushed for that many yards in an NFL game since Jamaal Charles in 2010 with the Kansas City Chiefs.
For his part, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 15 of 22 passes – one of them a touchdown – for 179 yards and rushed for 39 yards. The Rams’ Matthew Stafford completed 24 of 36 – two of them touchdowns – for 243 yards. The Eagles opened the scoring with a field goal by Jake Elliott in an attack that the Rams stopped in the red zone.
Philadelphia took control of the second quarter. First with another field goal from Elliott to close the gap and then with a touchdown from AJ Brown after a 6-yard pass from Hurts. 7-13 at halftime. Saquon Barkley needed just 11 seconds to run 70 yards, on the first play after the break, to score another touchdown for the Eagles that put the score at 7-20.
