The 85th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress stalwart, Sushil Koirala, is being commemorated today with various programs across the nation. Renowned for his instrumental role in drafting and promulgating Nepal’s constitution in 2015, Koirala is remembered as a leader of unwavering integrity and simplicity.

Born on August 12, 1940, Koirala followed in the footsteps of his illustrious uncle, BP Koirala, to enter the realm of politics. His political journey culminated in the successful formation of the constitution, a long-standing aspiration of the Nepali people.

The Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation, established to preserve his legacy, is organizing events to honor his contributions. The foundation, under the patronage of former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, aims to promote education, health, sports, and social welfare.

As Nepal marks International Youth Day, the memory of Koirala serves as an inspiration for young leaders to uphold the values of honesty, ethics, and democratic principles in their pursuit of public service.
