Sri Lanka emerged victorious in the Hong Kong International Sixes 2024, defeating Pakistan by three wickets in a thrilling final on Sunday afternoon.

Chasing a modest target of 73 runs set by Pakistan, Sri Lanka achieved the feat with three wickets to spare. Sandun Weerakkody led the charge with a crucial 34-run knock, while Lahiru Madushanka contributed 19 runs and Tharindu Ratnayake added 16.

Earlier, Pakistan, batting first, managed to score 72 runs. Muhammad Akhlaq top-scored with 48 runs, while captain Faheem Ashraf and Aamer Yamin chipped in with 13 and 6 runs, respectively. Sri Lanka’s bowling attack was impressive, with Tharindu Ratnayake and Dhananjaya Lakshan claiming two wickets each, and Nimesh Vimukthi and Lahiru Madushanka picking up one wicket apiece.

Despite a strong group stage performance, Nepal’s campaign came to an end in the quarterfinals, where they faced a tough challenge from the eventual champions, Sri Lanka.
