Annapurna, Nepal – A Spanish tourist has been found dead in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The body of Eric Kasanovas was discovered in the Bhurungdi River on Tuesday, August 27th. Kasanovas and his female companion, Molass Junka Missi, had been missing since Sunday.
The couple had been trekking from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani via Ulleri when they disappeared. According to local authorities, they had abandoned their bags near a waterfall in the Bhurungdi River area.
A search operation involving police, tourist police, and armed police divers was launched after the couple went missing. Kasanovas’ body was eventually found covered in sand. The search for Missy continues.
The incident has highlighted the dangers of trekking in the region, especially during the monsoon season when rivers can rise rapidly and trails can become treacherous.
