Disappointing weather forced the cancellation of Nepal’s final T20 World Cup warm-up match against the United States in Dallas, Texas. The scheduled 9:15 pm start on Thursday night was hampered by persistent rain at Grand Prairie Stadium.
The toss couldn’t even take place as the downpour continued, ultimately leading to the abandonment of the entire match. The USA had planned to bat first after winning the toss, but that never happened.
This cancellation comes after Nepal’s 63-run defeat to Canada in their opening warm-up encounter. Their next competitive outing will be on June 4th against the Netherlands, followed by their World Cup opener.
Nepal finds itself in Group D alongside Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh. Their group stage schedule is as follows:
- June 12th: Nepal vs Sri Lanka
- June 15th: Nepal vs South Africa
- June 17th: Nepal vs Bangladesh
With 20 teams participating, the tournament format divides them into four groups. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Eight stage.
This marks Nepal’s return to the T20 World Cup after a 10-year absence. They last participated in the 2014 edition held in Bangladesh.
