The breathtaking city of Pokhara is poised to be officially crowned Nepal’s Tourism Capital in a grand ceremony today, March 17th, 2024. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” will preside over the momentous event, jointly organized by the Gandaki Province government and Pokhara Metropolitan City.

Festivities begin with a vibrant cultural procession, bursting with color and tradition, setting off from Basundhara Park. The celebratory parade will culminate at the stunning Fewa Lake in Barahighat, where the official declaration will take place.

A specially designed “tourism capital marker” will be unveiled during the ceremony, a permanent symbol of Pokhara’s well-deserved recognition as the heart of Nepal’s tourism industry. A grand ceremony committee, led by Pokhara’s Mayor, has meticulously planned a spectacular celebration to mark this historic occasion.

The committee boasts a prestigious line-up, including Gandaki Province’s Chief Secretary and all Secretaries, alongside chairpersons from nearby municipalities and prominent tourism organizations.
