In a crackdown on smuggling, the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 8 Gan Dhanusha has seized a significant haul of contraband goods. A truck carrying 152 sacks of onions and 32 mobile phones was intercepted by authorities.
The truck (number plate NA 8 KHA 6300) was detained in Sahid Nagar Municipality-2 Tinkoria Birendra Bazar after its cargo documents raised suspicions. Officials estimate the onions to be worth 3 lakh 27 thousand Nepali rupees, and the truck 22 lakh rupees. Both have been handed over to the Janakpur customs office for further investigation and action.
In a separate incident, the BOP Fulgama unit of the Armed Police Force seized 32 mobile phones being smuggled from India in the Musaharnia Rural Municipality-6 area. The phones, along with the motorcycle they were transported on, have a combined estimated value of 635,000 Nepali rupees and have also been submitted to the customs office.
