Nepali Congress Leader Urges Unity Amid Party Infighting

Nepali Congress leader and former acting president, Puranbahadur Khadka, has appealed to party president Gagan Thapa to take the lead in uniting the party amidst ongoing infighting.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision to review the party’s legitimacy dispute, Khadka expressed concern over the recent exchange of accusations and comments between party leaders and cadres on social media.

In a statement released on social media on Monday, Khadka emphasized the need for party unity, citing the challenges facing the country’s nationality, democratic constitution, and the party’s own situation.

Khadka stressed the importance of developing a culture of tolerance, sensitivity, and coexistence within the party, and urged leaders and cadres to rise above personal ambitions, ego, and revenge.

He also called on President Thapa to take the initiative in leading the party towards unity, saying, ‘You have the courage and determination to take the lead in uniting the party, and we will all cooperate and support you.’

Khadka also appealed to party leaders, cadres, and well-wishers to refrain from making accusations and using abusive language on social media.

He emphasized that the country’s nationality, democracy, and the party’s existence can only be protected if all sides come together in unity.
