Nepal secured their place in the final of the SAFF U-20 Championship after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Bhutan on Sunday at the ANFA Complex.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time, forcing a penalty shootout to determine the winner. Nepal’s Ram Thapa, Abinash Syangtan, Simant Thapa, and Ziarat Sheikh all converted their penalties, while only Jetsuen Dorji scored for Bhutan. Nepal’s goalkeeper, Ziarath Sheikh, emerged as the hero of the shootout, saving two Bhutanese penalties.
Nepal will now face the winner of the second semi-final between India and Bangladesh in the final on Wednesday.
