A motorcyclist was tragically killed in a collision with a school bus in Deukhuri, Dang district on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Krishna Bahadur Shahi, 32, a resident of Bijauri, Ward No. 8, Rapti Rural Municipality.
According to the Area Police Office, Bhalubang, the accident occurred around 7:30 pm when the Gorkha Ideal School bus (Ra 1 Pa 1418) struck Shahi’s motorcycle (Ra 5 Pa 2601) on the Bijauri section of the East-West Highway. Shahi succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following the incident, angry locals staged a protest, blocking the highway and vandalizing a tanker. This comes just a day after another motorcyclist lost his life in a separate accident involving a cargo truck on the same stretch of road.
