Arjun Karki, a taxi driver from Dikure in Pakhribas Municipality-4, Dhankuta, currently resides with his sister’s family in Sundarharaicha, Morang, while building a new home nearby. On Friday, after returning from Bhojpur, he brought fish for his wife Asmita and their two daughters. However, upon arriving home, a dispute arose between the couple over not pouring water into the house under construction.
Following the argument, Asmita left the house around 8 p.m. with their daughters, Ayika (1) and Arpana (3). The next day, a tragic discovery was made. Arjun found the bodies of both girls in a local banana farm owned by Narayan Neupane. Pesticides and Asmita’s mobile phone were found nearby, but Asmita herself was missing.
Arjun informed the police that on Friday night, Asmita had texted him saying, “I will die after killing your daughters.” Despite searching for her that night, they were unable to locate her and reported her missing to the authorities. Suspecting that she might have committed suicide after killing the girls, the police launched a search operation in the nearby forest.
After four days of searching, Asmita was found in Birtamod, Jhapa, in a mentally unstable condition. Morang Police Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Basnet stated, “We found the missing mother wandering in Birtamod and brought her back.” She was discovered in poor health on the road and was taken to Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment.
The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two girls. This update connects to the earlier report of the tragic discovery of the two girls’ bodies.
