In a collaborative effort to enhance disaster preparedness and response, four municipalities in Morang district have announced plans to construct an integrated disaster management center. The center, to be located in Darvesha, Ward No. 8 of Rangeli Municipality, will serve as a central hub for coordinating emergency services across the region.
The initiative, a joint venture by Rangeli and Sunbarshi Municipalities, and Kanepokhari and Dhanpalathan Rural Municipalities, aims to address the growing need for a well-equipped and centrally located facility to handle various disasters, including natural calamities, accidents, and emergencies.
Key features of the disaster management center:
- Comprehensive Equipment: The center will be equipped with essential resources such as ambulances, hearse vehicles, fire trucks, rafting boats, and housing facilities for emergency response teams.
- Centralized Coordination: By consolidating emergency services in one location, the center will streamline communication and response efforts during disasters.
- Joint Funding: The construction of the center will be funded through a collaborative effort involving the provincial government, the Swiss government, and the four participating municipalities.
- Strategic Location: Darvesha was chosen as the site for the center due to its accessibility and central location within the district.
The municipalities involved have expressed their commitment to ensuring the center’s effectiveness and sustainability. By pooling their resources and expertise, they hope to create a robust disaster management system that can protect the lives and property of residents in the Morang district.
