A remarkable 500kg Shaligram, a sacred stone to Hindus, has been found in Ruru, a renowned religious and tourist destination in Gulmi. Locals have placed the Shaligram in Hanuman Batika for worship and public viewing.
“While smaller Shaligrams are common along the Kaligandaki River, discoveries of this size are incredibly rare,” remarked Sundar Kashaju, a Ruru resident. “Hindus hold a special reverence for black Shaligrams.”
Shaligrams naturally occur throughout the lower coastal areas of the Gandaki River basin, originating from the Damodar Kunda and the Kali River flowing from Muktinath.
