Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Gurkhas have secured the services of Dutch batsman Michael Levitt for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL). The team announced the signing on Wednesday through their social media channels.
Levitt, a 21-year-old right-handed batsman, will join the Gurkhas for the inaugural edition of the NPL, set to take place from November 30 to December 21. He becomes the first foreign player to be signed by Kathmandu and the second Dutch cricketer to participate in the league, following Pokhara Avengers’ acquisition of all-rounder Bas de Leede.
Levitt has represented the Netherlands in 8 ODIs and 17 T20Is, amassing one century and four half-centuries in the T20 format. His highest T20I score is 135 runs, and he also contributes with part-time bowling. He made his T20I debut against Nepal in Kirtipur last February, gaining valuable experience playing on the ground.
Expressing his excitement about joining Kathmandu Gurkhas, Levitt stated that he is eager to compete in the NPL. The team, led by head coach Basant Shahi and featuring marquee player Karan KC, has made a strong addition to their batting lineup with the signing of Levitt.
