ISRO Makes India’s Successful SSLV-D3 Launch

India’s space agency, ISRO, has successfully launched the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3) carrying the Earth Observation Satellite-08 (EOS-08) and a small satellite, SR-0, into orbit. The launch took place on Friday morning from the first launch pad.

The 34-meter-tall SSLV lifted off at 9:17 AM, carrying a payload of 175.5 kg. The EOS-08 satellite, developed by ISRO, will be used for earth observation, while the SR-0 satellite is a product of the Chennai-based startup Space Rickshaw.

The successful launch marks a significant milestone for ISRO, demonstrating the reliability and capabilities of the SSLV rocket. The mission also showcases India’s growing prowess in the space sector, with the involvement of private players like Space Rickshaw.

The EOS-08 satellite is equipped with advanced payloads to capture images and gather data for various applications, including disaster monitoring, environmental assessment, and agricultural monitoring. The SR-0 satellite is a technology demonstration satellite that will contribute to India’s space research efforts.

With the successful launch of SSLV-D3, ISRO has expanded its launch vehicle capabilities, providing a cost-effective option for small satellite missions.
