Injured Children from Panchthar Explosion


Panchthar, Nepal โ€“ Two children injured in a recent explosion in Panchthar district have been transferred to a burn hospital in Kathmandu for specialized treatment.

Pawan Rai and Dipsan Rai, both victims of the explosion on August 29, were initially taken to Panchthar Hospital. However, due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transported to Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar.

Following a recommendation from the district hospital doctor, Pawan was sent to Kathmandu for further treatment as his wounds were deemed infected.

To assist the families, representatives from human rights organizations INSEC and CoWIN, district security officials, the village chief administrative officer, and the children’s parents were dispatched to Kathmandu. The village of Phalelung will cover the transportation and airfare costs, while CoWIN will arrange treatment at Ban Hospital in Kirtipur.

The explosion, which occurred at the home of Maoist activist Aitaraj Kerung, tragically resulted in the deaths of 11-year-old Dipsan Sawan and his 2-and-a-half-year-old sister Prinsa.
