Myagdi: A chilling discovery was made in the forest of Angkhet Kalimul, Beni Municipality-9, on Sunday when locals found a human skeleton buried in the ground. Alongside the remains, police recovered a tola of gold jewelry, clothing, and slippers.
The alarming find has prompted a thorough investigation by the District Police Office. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharat Shrestha confirmed that the skeleton, jewelry, and clothing will be sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis. “We have initiated a comprehensive investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their death,” said DSP Shrestha.
The case has taken a poignant turn with the involvement of a missing person. Mina Periyar, a 19-year-old from Beni Municipality-9, has been missing since January 1, 2024. Her family has identified the jewelry and clothing found at the scene as belonging to her, raising the horrifying possibility that the skeleton is her remains.
A local youth, previously arrested in connection with Mina’s disappearance, is currently in prison awaiting trial. However, the exact relationship between the missing woman, the discovered remains, and the detained individual remains unclear and will be determined through forensic analysis and further investigation.
As the investigation unfolds, the community is left in shock and disbelief as authorities work tirelessly to uncover the truth behind this tragic case.
