Solukhumbu: A tragic incident occurred in Salleri, Solukhumbu on Saturday, resulting in the death of an electrical worker and injuries to three others.
The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Bishnu Rai, a senior technician at Salleri Chialsa Electricity Company. Rai succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at District Hospital Phaplu.
Three other employees of the company โ Buddhi Rajbhandari (30), Tusi Sherpa (34), and Kumar Basnet (51) โ were also electrocuted during the incident. They are currently receiving medical treatment at the same hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place while the team was trimming trees near a high-voltage power line. The ladder they were using accidentally came into contact with the live wire, causing the electrocution.
The electricity company has initiated arrangements to airlift the injured to Kathmandu for advanced medical care. The body of the deceased is currently at the mortuary of District Hospital Phaplu, awaiting post-mortem.
Salleri Chialsa Electricity Company provides power supply to approximately 3,400 households in Salleri and its surrounding areas.
Despite the severity of the incident, Solukhumbu police have been reluctant to provide detailed information. This has raised concerns about transparency in the investigation.
