Tragedy struck Sundarharaicha Municipality, Morang when four women were swept away by a sudden flood in Budhi Khola near Goushala while fishing on June 25 at noon.
One individual, 22-year-old Swastika Chaudhary of Sundarharaicha-5, was fortunately rescued by nearby residents. Sadly, the body of another young woman, 22-year-old Premkala Chaudhary (also known as Fudni), was found on the western bank of the river.
Search efforts are ongoing for the remaining two missing individuals, 60-year-old Asra Devi Chaudhary and 30-year-old Phula Chaudhary. A team led by Morang Superintendent of Police Nabaraj Karki has been deployed to locate them.
This incident serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers posed by flash floods, particularly near overflowing rivers. It’s crucial to exercise caution and avoid venturing near waterways during heavy rain or periods of high water levels.
