The death toll in a tragic landslide incident at a construction site for a suspension bridge in Rolpa has risen to five. The discovery of the body of 66-year-old Deviram Pariyar brought the number of deceased to five. Earlier, the deaths of 45-year-old Dujman Pariyar, 31-year-old Om Pariyar, 40-year-old Subitra Pariyar, and 27-year-old Aiti Pariyar were confirmed. All five victims were residents of Bahiri Gaun, Ward No. 3, under Sunchhahari Rural Municipality.
The incident occurred at 9:50 AM while workers were building a retaining wall for the suspension bridge connecting Maulabang and Bahiri Gaun. A landslide buried the workers, with two managing to escape unharmed.
A rescue team, comprising seven personnel led by Inspector Arun Tamang from the Area Police Office in Sulichaur and five personnel led by Assistant Inspector Prakash Bista from the Police Post in Gaun, was deployed to the site for the recovery operation.
