At least eight people, including three students, are missing after a ferry capsized in a Yangon river on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024.

According to a rescue organization official who spoke with Xinhua News Agency, the incident occurred around 8:10 am local time. The ferry, carrying 16 passengers, collided with a parked ship causing it to overturn.

Eight people were fortunately rescued from the water. However, a search and rescue operation is currently underway to locate the remaining eight individuals who are still missing.
