Everest Youth Club Morang has advanced to the semi-finals of the Taplejung Gold Cup after defeating Lumbini Football Club Rupandehi by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The victory sets up a clash with Sangharsh Sporting Club of Taplejung on Friday, with the winner moving on to the final.
Sushil Rai scored the winning goal for Morang in the 19th minute of the first half, beating two defenders inside the penalty box. Everest captain Ashok Khawas was named the man of the match and received a cash prize of five thousand rupees.
The final quarterfinal match will be played on Thursday between Tribhuvan Army Club Kathmandu and Birtamod United Football Club Jhapa. The winner of that match will face Salhes Yuva Club Siraha of Madhes Province in the other semi-final.
