England got their Euro 2024 campaign off to a flying start with a narrow 1-0 victory over Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday.
The Three Lions dominated the early stages and took the lead in the 13th minute thanks to a well-taken header from young star Jude Bellingham. The 20-year-old midfielder met Bukayo Saka’s deflected cross and steered the ball past Serbian goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
Captain Harry Kane nearly doubled England’s lead later in the first half, but his shot from Jarrod Bowen’s cross was expertly saved by Rajkovic. Despite England’s control, the score remained 1-0 throughout the second half, with Serbia failing to seriously threaten.
This win puts England firmly in control of Group C and gives them a valuable three points. Their next challenge comes on Monday when they face Denmark.
