Bara, Nepal: An adult elephant was discovered lifeless in Bara district, Nepal. Following a similar incident, a 15-year-old elephant was also found deceased in Bhaluyahikhor, Kolhabi Municipality-2.
According to Abdul Karim, the head of the Kolhabi Sub-Division Forest Office, the latter elephant was discovered dead in Ramesh GC’s paddy field on Sunday. A preliminary investigation suggests that the elephant perished due to electrocution, as an electric wire was found wrapped around its neck.
Karim stated that the authorities are investigating the incident to identify the individual responsible for applying the electricity.
This unfortunate event marks the second wildlife fatality in the area within a year. In February 2023, a three-year-old female tiger was found dead at the same location.
