Sarlahi: Police have apprehended eight individuals, including two Indian nationals, for their involvement in a fake currency manufacturing operation in Madhubani, a border area between Nepal and India. The arrest was made following a tip-off regarding suspicious activity at a house near the village.
The arrested individuals include Rajeev Thakur (49) from Sitamarhi, India, Subodh Kumar (40) from Majorganj, India, and six Nepalese citizens: Saugat Thapa Magar (26), Bijay Lama (47), Janardhan Singh (32), Bishal Rai (37), Sanjay Rana Magar (33), and Amir Khatri (37).
Upon raiding the premises, police seized 14 bundles of paper cut to resemble 1000-rupee notes, 8 liters of chemicals used in the production process, 95,805 Nepali rupees in genuine currency, 10 mobile phones, 2 Indian number plates, and a Scorpio vehicle with a Nepali number plate.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Shrestha stated that this is not the first instance of fake currency-related arrests in the region, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat such illegal activities.
