Dadeldhura, Nepal – The tragic bus accident in Dadeldhura has claimed another life, bringing the total death toll to five. The body of a 60-year-old woman, Gobhani Mahara, was discovered trapped beneath the wreckage of the bus on Wednesday.
District Police Office Dadeldhura’s Information Officer, Police Inspector Upendra Bam, confirmed that Mahara, a resident of Purchaudi Municipality-10, Baitadi, was recovered from the accident site around 11 AM.
The fatal crash occurred on Tuesday night when a Pawandoot Transport bus, bearing the registration number Na 8 Kha 1078, veered off the road and plummeted approximately 300 meters near Amargadhi Municipality-7 Khasrekhan. The bus was traveling from Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, to Purchaudi Municipality, Baitadi.
Four individuals were previously identified as victims of the accident: Jaimati Bohora (45), Sahadev Bohora (22), Kamala Bohora (21), and bus driver Birendra Bohora. Twelve people, including the driver, sustained serious injuries and were transported to Dhangadhi for further medical attention.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Authorities suspect that additional victims may be missing and are continuing search efforts. The crashed bus has suffered significant damage.
