Taiyuan, China – China successfully launched a new Earth observation satellite into space on Friday. The Gaofen-11 05 satellite was deployed into orbit at 11:03 a.m. local time via a Long March-4B carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province.

The advanced satellite is equipped to serve a wide range of applications, including land surveying, urban planning, transportation infrastructure development, and agricultural yield assessment. Additionally, it will play a crucial role in land management, disaster response, and bolstering national defense capabilities.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative is also expected to benefit from the data collected by the satellite. This launch marks the 528th successful mission for the Long March carrier rocket series.

The Gaofen-11 05 is part of China’s ambitious High-resolution Earth Observation System (CHEOS) program, aimed at enhancing the country’s Earth imaging capabilities.
