Ted Price has announced his resignation from the video game industry. In an emotional post on the official PlayStation blog, Price reflected on his three decades leading the studio, known for iconic titles such as Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank and Spyro the Dragon.
He expressed pride in his team’s resilience and creativity, even in a challenging 2024, including the effects of the fires in Los Angeles, which affected both employees and the local community. “Insomniac has been my life, my home away from home, for three decades,” he wrote, thanking his colleagues and fans for their support and unwavering enthusiasm.
The founder also announced that his decision to retire was made last year, allowing time to engineer a smooth transition. Starting in March, leadership of the studio will be in the hands of Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider and Jen Huang, who will take over as co-directors of the studio. According to Price, these leaders “have been instrumental in building the culture and processes that make Insomniac what it is today.”
In his farewell, he assured that he will continue to support the studio as a fan, while anticipating future Insomniac Games projects. “I can’t wait to experience our future games purely as a player,” he said. With this change, the company enters a new stage, but maintains its commitment to delivering innovative experiences that define the industry and connect with players around the world.
